6 Solutions for iPhone Won’t Turn Off

6 Solutions for iPhone Won’t Turn Off
1. Try One More Time to Turn Off Your iPhone

To turn off the device, you hold the Sleep/Wake (Power) button. Try holding the button for a few minutes before letting go to see if the turn-off process will begin. If it works, you should see the screen change, telling you to “Slide to Power off”. When you touch the red power icon and swipe to slide, the iPhone should turn off. Keep reading if you do this and it doesn’t work.

2. Activate Assistive Touch and Power Down Your iPhone

If the power (Sleep/Wake) button is damaged, you can power down the iPhone using Assistive touch. Here’s how.

Step 1: Go to Settings > General and then Tap on Accessibility.

Step 2: Under “Interaction” tap on AssistiveTouch.

Step 3: Turn on AssistiveTouch by toggling the switch to on.

Step 4: When done, you should see a rounded rectangle with a circle in the middle of the screen. Tap on the AssistiveTouch icon to open the on-screen controls and then tap on “Device”.

Step 5: Tap and hold “Lock Screen” until the “Slide to Power off” option appears and then proceed to turn off the device.

3. Hard Reset/ Force Restart iPhone

You can also try restarting the iPhone. Here’s how to do it for different models.

For iPhone 6 and older generation

Press the Sleep/Wake and Home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. Release the buttons when iPhone Logo appears.

For iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

Press the Sleep/Wake and the Volume Down button synchronously for about 10 seconds. Let go when the Apple Logo appears.

For iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

Press and hold the Top or Side button until the slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off the device completely. Once the device is off, press and hold the Top or Side button again until you see the Apple Logo.

For iPhone X

Press and hold the Side button or the Volume Button until the slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off the device. Then, press and hold the Side button again until the Apple Logo appears.
4. Restore iPhone with iTunes Backup

If restarting the device will not work to fix the device, restoring it via iTunes might work. But before you do that, it is important that you have a recent backup of your device in iTunes. If you don’t have it, take a moment to create one and then follow these steps to restore your device via iTunes.

Step 1: Open iTunes on your computer and then connect the device to your computer using USB cable. If you need to, update iTunes to the latest version.

Step 2: If the device is in recovery mode, iTunes will recognize the problem and a restore or update message will appear. Simply click on “Restore” to fix the problem; if the device is not in recovery mode, iTunes should recognize it. Select it when it appears in iTunes and under “Summary” click “Restore Backup.”

Step 3: Click “Restore” in the pop-up window that appears and wait for the process to be completed.

5. Reset All Settings

If a restore via iTunes doesn’t work, try resetting all your settings. This action can help to eliminate any setting that may be causing the problem and has been known to work very well. Follow these simple steps to reset all your settings.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and then tap on “General.”

Step 2: Scroll down to select “Reset” and then choose “Reset All Settings.”

Step 3: Confirm the action in the pop-up that appears. Then Wait for the device to restart and see if it works.

6. Fix The iPhone Won’t Turn Off Problem via Software

Since the problem might be caused by malfunctioning software, using a program like iMyFone D-Back that can fix most iOS issues would be a viable solution. This data recovery program can come in handy for a number of reasons including the recovery of lost data on the iPhone, as well as exporting your data out to keep them safe. Yet, its ability to fix iOS issues without affecting the data on the device is also great.Sponsor ads:
